Powered Platform Inspections

ATS Engineering LLC is authorized by NYSDOL meeting the criteria and credentials to perform periodic inspection and recertification of powered platforms throughout New York State. A New York State licensed Professional Engineer must perform the required assessments 7 years after the initial approval is granted and every 5 years or sooner if conditions warrant.

REQUIREMENTS

ALL CERTIFICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO THE ENGINEERING SERVICES UNIT (ESU) OF THE NYSDOL AND STATE.

All components of the system are safe and functioning as originally designed.
All components of the system are free from defects or wear which would require replacement.
According to all available records maintenance of equipment is in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and Appendix 101A of NYSDOL Advisory Standard 101.
Structural components continue to be capable of supporting all loading required by design.

NEW YORK STATE ADVISORY STANDARDS FOR POWERED PLATFORMS

Our licensed Professional Engineers (P.E.) are thoroughly qualified in inspection of suspended scaffolds for window washing and light maintenance. At ATS we meet industry regulation by complying with OSHA and ASME standards enabling our customers to focus on other building management issues. In addition to engineering practices, our cohesive approach to inspections implementing safety, operational testing, equipment verification and functionality, and nondestructive testing places ATS as the leader in the industry.

Inspections include structurally secure anchors, tiedowns, counterweights, and direct connects. The support must be capable of load bearing to include capacity, components, hoists, outrigger beams, and suspension ropes. Direct access is determined by preferred industry practice as the safest possible procedure. Fall protection combines evaluating and maintaining fall arrest systems, guardrail, and erectors and dismantlers. Platform capacity, decking, overlap, brackets, and working distance are verified for defects, wear, and structural integrity. Stability is examined in cases that include, but not limited to excessive loads, component damage, and/or extreme weather. ATS applies the latest technology and engineering methods where single-level, single-point adjustable, multi-level, multi-point adjustable, interior hung, catenary, needle beam, and float scaffolds are applicable.
